The CJCP website has a new feature for you to post your comments about the school called the CJCP Comment Box; see the icon on right below. This is made available for CJCP students, parents, teachers, and anyone in the CJCP community to make comments or reports and give their ideas about how to improve the school. You do not have to give your name. All comments that can help make the school better and safer are appreciated.

| Garden State Rumble |
Garden State Rumble will be held in NJIT Newark Campus, on February 7 from 8 a.m to 4 p.m. CJCP Cougars will be competing other 48 teams with the challenge hot shot. Cougars have participated practises in edison and highstown last month.We would like to invite all students and parents to support our team.

| Science Fair is approaching |
4th annual Central Jersey College Prep science fair is approaching. All middle school students are getting ready for their projects to be presented on February 27th, 2010. For the last 4 weeks, each student will finish his or her project by following instructions and handouts given previously. Most of the work will be completed at home. Students will need to complete each part of the project by specific due dates to receive full credit. On Feb 27th judges will inspect the presentations.

| Haiti Earthquake Relief Fund |
On January 12, 2010, the island of Haiti experienced a natural disaster, which caused a catastrophic loss of homes, resources, and lives. Citizens of Haiti made a plea to the United States to act in the name of brotherhood. Central Jersey College Prep Charter School decided to answer that call and develop a dress down fundraiser. Students and staff gave a monetary donation in exchange for an opportunity to dress down on Thursday, January, 21, 2010. The colors of the dress down were red, white, and blue, which are both represented in the Haitian and American flag.

| Career Fair |
December 22, the seventh grade hosted a career fair. Students researched a job of their choice and created posters and flyers providing information about careers that they were interested in. This research included details about the job such as pay scale, education background, and vocabulary related to the career. All grades were invited to attened the career fair during the day, while parents attended in the afternoon. Students and parents commented on the presentation. One parent said "I am impressed with the students and how much work they seemed to put into their jobs."

| Science Club did it again! |
On Tuesday, January 12, 2010 the Science Club went to Union County College to compete in Science Olympiad and won two 4th places.The Olympiad team consisted of 8th graders Brianna Smith, Nathanael Paige, and Harshita Sahay, and 7th graders Mikhail Velez, Jamill Monroe-Mendez, Aaliyah Brown, Georgina Denis, Travis Smith, Michael Smith, and Karleidy Estevez.The students competed as one of 21 middle schools in a total of 13 events from a variety of disciplines including Anatomy, Can't Judge a Powder, Compute This, Disease Detective, Dynamic Planet, Ecology, Elevated Bridge, Fossils, Meteorology, Road Scholar, Solar System, Wright Stuff, and Write It Do It.

| Science Club Winter Camp |
On December 28th, Science Club went to Fernwood Hotel and Resort,Bushkill,PA to work on their projects. Club members and Mr. Biyikli worked intensively on their projects for 3 days and returned back on December 30th. They have also enjoyed snow tubing while taking a break from their studies. Special thanks to parents of Harshita Sahay with their assistance during the camp.

| Science Olympiad is Around the Corner |
Science Club is getting ready to compete in the Science Olympiad at Union County College on January 12, 2010. All members of the team have been working hard on a variety of projects in multiple disciplines, including life science, earth science, and physical science. The members of the Middle School Science Club as well as their advisors Mr. Biyikli and Ms. Plasket, sincerely hope that you will come out and support us at the competition. Go CJCP!

| CJCP attends Alpha Phi Alpha Seminar: a Day in College Life |
Thirty Six CJCP Seniors and juniors in Mr. Brook's Web Design and Graphics and Publishing Classes attended a College program at Rutgers University this past Friday, Dec 4, 2009. Over 90 students were in attendance from Northern NJ Area High Schools.
The field trip to the Paul Robeson Cultural Center on Busch Campus at Rutgers University in New Brunswick/Piscataway was both educational and entertaining.
